Great post!! Great list!!
I’m keeping it in my resources list, to return to it later. It might be overwhelming to see such a list, especially for a new blogger. But it helps to know you can just adapt these tips over time. It’s just something to return to. Have an overview from time to time.
Live, Live, Enjoy!
Linda
Hey Linda, Thanks for your comments. Yes, the list is a bit extensive, but I believe that having this when you start off of a new blog will help you ensure that you are covering all your bases.
I really like this list. I am a new Blogger and had to google a few words like seo but I am happy to say I do apply many of these points 🙂 Thank you for creating such a thorough list!
Excellent list! Couldn’t agree with all the points, especially 8, 20, 27, 58 and 93. Bookmarked for later reference 🙂
Thanks Nizam for your comment. Sure, we all have things that work for us and some just don’t.
Good day Denise, Glad that you could stop by. Glad that you find the list resourceful. I’ve created a handy infographic to go with it as well.
Great stuff! I’ve been blogging full time for over 12 years (multiple blogs ranging from a food blog to a travel blog) and if I were to make a list it’d look very much like your list.
Having a great theme, being honest and generous, being yourself, and not giving up are perfect.
I’d also add:
1. Don’t annoy your readers – as in don’t have ads jumping out all over the place, try to have as few spelling errors and punctuation mistakes as possible. Proofread everything. Occasional mistakes will still happen – just make sure they’re rare.
2. Make certain your website looks great on all devices. Most people are accessing your blog from iPhones, iPads, and laptops – you have to have a theme that’s mobile responsive. Also look at how your pictures and ads look on all devices. The last thing you want to do is turn anyone away or annoy them.
3. Last but not least… live a full life! The more you read, see and experience, the more you’ll have to share. Don’t get caught up in a rut where you’re holed up writing, checking stats, networking, and stressing over traffic the majority of your time. For one thing, you’ll burn out FAST and for another, it doesn’t make for a very interesting person.
Thanks for a great list – wonderful info for new bloggers and much-needed reminders for us veteran bloggers. Now I’m off to check the sidebars on my blogs and make sure they aren’t cluttered!…
