The ClickBank marketplace is an haven for affiliate markers, with just about any product from every niche available. This can be quite overwhelming for a new affiliate marketer.

This results in poor choice of Super Affiliate Products to promote.

  • If you enter your keywords in quotes, such as “golf swing,” we will only return listings that use the phrase exactly as entered.
  • If you enter your keywords with AND in between, such as golf AND swing, we will only return listings that use both terms.
  • If you enter your keywords with OR in between, such as golf OR swing, we will return listings that have either term.
  • If you enter your keywords with NOT between, such as golf NOT swing, we will exclude any listings that include the second term.
  • If you enter + before a keyword, such as golf +swing, we will only return listings that include the + keyword.
  • If you enter – before a keyword, such as golf -swing, we will exclude any listings that include the -keyword.
  • If you use parentheses with your keywords, you can do more complicated searches. For example, if you type (golf OR swing) AND help, you will get results that include either golf or swing combined with the word help, such as golf help or swing help.

Marketplace Stats to determine Super Affiliate Products

For many reasons, affiliate marketers on ClickBank refuse to look up or even try and understand what the marketplace stats mean and who they can add value to the products they promote. Here is a quick list of definitions of the stats you see below each product.

Since these statistics are unique to ClickBank, it’s important to know what they mean and how they can help you decide which products to promote. If you forgot what these mean, you can click Stats under any listing to return here.

  • Initial $/sale: This is the average amount that an affiliate earns for each sale of this product. One-time upsell purchases are also considered initial sales. This number takes into account refunds, chargebacks, and sales tax. Since vendors may offer products with different prices and commissions, the amount you earn on any given sale may not match this number exactly.
  • Avg Rebill Total: This number is only shown if the vendor offers recurring billing products (e.g., products like memberships and subscriptions that regularly bill customers over time). This number shows the average amount an affiliate makes on all of the rebilled sales. Note that this number doesn’t include the initial sale amount.
  • Avg $/sale: For one-time purchases, this number is the same as Initial $/sale. If the vendor offers recurring billing products, it equals the average total of the initial sale plus all rebills, divided by the number of initial sales. To put it simply, for every new purchase of this product, this amount is the average you’d make in total over the life of a new customer. However, this is just an average; this amount is not guaranteed.
  • Avg %/sale: This number shows the average commission rate earned for all sales of a vendor’s products, including one-time purchases, rebills, and upsell purchases. Since vendors can offer different commission rates for different types of products, this number may not exactly match the commission rate you earn on any given sale.
  • Avg %/rebill: This number is only shown if the vendor offers recurring billing products, and shows the average commission rate earned only on rebills.
  • Grav: Short for GRAVITY™ performance statistic, this number represents a unique calculation by ClickBank that takes into account the number of different affiliates who earned a commission by promoting this product over the past 12 weeks. Since more recent transactions are given a higher value, this number can give you an idea of what products are “hot” at the moment, in terms of being promoted by many affiliates and making a good number of sales. However, high gravity can also indicate that there will be a lot of competition in promoting this product.
  • Cat: The Marketplace category and sub-category of the site.

Choosing The Right Super Affiliate Product

There are two important ingredients that form a super affiliate product. One is a well paying commission and the other is a top selling product.

Once you understand the metrics available at the market place you will be able to focus on products that meet your needs.

While your at it, make sure that they have the following qualities.

High Commission Percentage (65% or greater)

Search for products that have a higher commission rate. This is because, you are going to be doing a lot of promotion and marketing for the vendor for free. So it better be worth the pay, if your commissions are good, then your promotional efforts are worth it.

Selecting best-selling products

Do not go for the products that are low in gravity and sales, check the stats of the products out, see how long they have been on the store and how well are they selling.

Some product owners can be so persuasive that they lie through their teeth. So ensure that you are seeing numbers that are true and cannot be altered.

The best way to avoid this is to go for products that are best selling in the marketplace.

The time you need in choosing your product and do not rush into choosing a product that might not be worth your effort.

Reach out to vendors directly For Super Deals and JV Insights

As an affiliate marketer I always believe that affiliates should review and truly believe in any product they promote, if possible even purchase the products themselves and test them out.

I always write to product owners requesting them for a review copy, to make sure that the product really has value and can offer benefit to my readers and customers.

You can always buy the product directly if the vendor doesn’t provide review copies.

Buying the product can also be useful since it lets you test out the vendor’s purchase process and customer support, and lets you feel comfortable recommending that product to your audience.

Make Use Of The Vendor Affiliate Tools page

Most products that have been tagged with an affiliate system, also have a affiliate tools page.

This page is set up by the product owner and is often linked to the affiliate product site.

Here you will be able to find access to information about the product, Email swipes that you can use to promote the product, creative banners that you can use and so on.

Here is where you usually have a forum or a community where you can discuss about the product and even contact the vendor directly.

Make use of this system to promote the product is every possible way, be it on your blog, article directories or social networks. Make best use of the resources available to you.

Rules I Have for Affiliate Marketing

In the past when I was new to affiliate marketing, about 5 years ago, I just about promoted everything that sounded good to me.

It took me a while to realize that was not the way affiliate marketing was done.

As I started to grow as a blogger and affiliate marketer and taking up a few courses and reading a few eBooks, I really understood what affiliate marketing was about.

Today, I can clearly see the commissions that I make off products that I promote.

This has been possible for me only because of the 2 rules I strictly adhere to -

  1. I only recommend products as an affiliate that I’m familiar with – These are products that I’ve used before and have helped me achieve something or I’ve reviewed and the said results can be achieved. If I feel that the product does not add value to my readers then I will not promote it.
  2. I never directly tell anyone to buy a product. I always recommend products based on my experience and in the context of what I’ve done or what I’m doing or what it can do for you.

  1. Hi Eddie,

    Great work here!

Steve is a champion. I have known him for years and strongly recommend any product he sells so you are on board with a winner. Your breakdown is spot on; promote products you can vouch for. Suggesting is key too; lay out the facts and allow readers to make their own choice.

Selling products you have never used damages your rep. It is tough to maintain your integrity if you sell something you know little about. Sell what you know, like, use and believe in.

The belief factor must be huge if you want to succeed in the affiliate marketing game because people can feel your energy concerning any product or service.

    Thanks for sharing Eddie!

  2. Eddie, awesome piece on affiliates. I use linkshare but it is similiar to clickbank. I’ve been thinking of exploring more. Intereesting points on using best selling products. I’ve found some success with that on a shoe line I do for other sites. I would love to get 65% though!
Definately use the products, learned that the hard way years ago. Sold some shoes that 3 customers complained about – took them down from the site after the 3rd complaint. I now order and wear them first! We all live and learn, right?

  3. I have never had much success with affiliate marketing but it seems I have been doing it wrong, thanks for the great tips!

  4. Hi Eddie,

This is well said and thank you for sharing.

Personally, my concept is always just one: Always promote a product that you are using (unless it is a paid review). When you have the chance to try it out, you will tend be able to explain in more details on how it works etc. That will make you a better blogger and reviewer.

Thanks for sharing once again and appreciate it!

  5. Hi Eddie,

Great post on how to use Clickbank and finding great products to promote. I think that many newbies who get started can easily become confused by all the different products in the marketplace.

Your article will definitely help them get a better understanding of how to choose a profitable product.

I too used to promote anything and everything that I could make a commission on. Now I’m like you…unless I’ve used the product and it has helped me can I feel comfortable putting it on my blog.

I don’t like to push products on people. I also recommend them and people can make their own minds up. Thanks for sharing have a wonderful day.

  6. Thanks to my father who shared with me regarding this weblog, this weblog is really remarkable.
