6 Simple Ways to Get More Blog Subscribers

The question that I keep getting asked during every consulting service is, how do I grow my list Eddie? How do I Get More Blog Subscribers?

Its simple.

Don’t complicate things and make it easy for readers to find optins or subscription buttons on your blog.

There are a few things that you need to understand before trying to get readers to subscribe.

They need to have a reason to subscribe to you.

Are you offering quality content that will help their business or needs or solve their problem in anyway?

Have you established authority in the market niche and have credibility?

If you are new, then do you offer quality content that will want a reader to subscribe?

The questions go on.

With all this aside, there are 9 simple tips that will help you get more blog subscribers or grow your list.

1. Make It Easy To Find And Sign Up To Get More Blog Subscribers

The first thing that you need to do to get more subscriber is to make the optin easily findable and sign up.

Placing the optin on the sidebar above the fold will surely get the attention of your readers.

Keep the form simple enough to collect information that you can contact the readers with.

Avoid asking for too many details that will make the reader hesitant to sign up.

Most of the time a name and email should do, if you need a phone number you can always email the customer asking for a number to have a quick meeting.

2. Be Focused Towards Gaining Blog Subscribers

Focus on one topic and be good at it.

The credibility and the authority you build in your niche is what will get you more subscribers.

Be honest to yourself and your readers.

Showcase expert opinions and research that will win the trust of your readers.

Highlight them where ever possible.

3. Offer An Ethical Bribe

Relax, its nothing illegal.

These are simple stuff that you can give away for free when a reader sign’s up.

If you use aweber email marketing software, then you can set up your emails such that once the reader confirms subscription, they can be emailed the offer.

This is a great way to lure readers to sign up for updates or join your list.

4. Create eBooks

eBooks are a great way to increase your blog subscription.

Simply create an awesome eBook filled with quality information that readers would love and share.

Don’t forget to add a link back to your blog subscription landing page as well as social share button for readers to share on the web.

What this does is get your free Ebook to as many readers as possible and most of the time, readers who liked your eBook are bound to find the subscription link in the eBook and sign up for updates.

Neat trick, right.

I know. Let me know how this works for you.

5. Subscription Landing Page

Create a separate landing page, where you can request readers to visit to subscribe.

This is another great way to get readers to know more about what the subscription offers and why they need to sign up.

You can create a freebie list and various offers here giving reasons for readers to sign up.

Landing pages are often quite easy to design if you have a little technical knowledge.

Well, if your not that technical, you can always use Premise for WordPress that makes it a breeze creating landing pages, sales pages, optin pages and more.

6. Guest Blogger

Guest blogging is a great way to get new readers to visit your blog.

Simple creating a link back to your subscription landing page will get you more readers and blog subscribers from a guest post.

Selecting a blog to guest write on is important.

Ensure that you select a blog in your niche where readers will be interested in your work.

Writing quality articles on top blog can get you up to 200 to 300% subscription rate.

  1. This is indeed a great list and i have learnt quite enough to realize i haven’t done much to grow my subscribers. I will definitely be implementing the listed strategies. Thanks for your tips though.

  2. Those are great tips Eddie and I know that I’m not taking advantage of the subscription landing page. I will admit that I am getting subscribers every single day to my blog but nowhere near the amount that I would like.

I guess I need to get my you know what in gear and get to work.

Thanks for sharing these fabulous tips with us and I’ll do my best to put this in place.

    ~Adrienne

    • Thanks for your kind words Adrienne. The landing pages work like a charm, especially when you have a good pitch and an ethical bribe that the reader cannot refuse. When it comes to landing pages and call to action on blogs, I am often reminded of the movie GodFather, the dialog, I will make him an offer he cannot refuse. :)

      Thanks for stopping by Adrienne.

  3. These are great suggestions, Eddie. You’re right, each one of these steps conveys to the reader that they are getting professional, high-quality content.

Subscribers are your most loyal readers so increasing your subscribers should be a primary goal of everyone with a website.

    • Thanks Carolyn, I am glad that you find the tips useful. Very true, subscribers are like the backbone to your blog traffic. while there can be new visitors the major portion of visitors are your loyal readers.

  4. Great tips and insights. Very helpful.

  5. Thanks for the tips! I know once I get my ebook finished and do a little guest posting, I’ll start getting some real people interested in what I have to say :)

    • HI there Rose, Thanks for stopping by and your comment. Yes, once you have an ethical bribe ready, your subscription rate would definitely increase. Do let me know how things are working out in terms of lead generation and if you need any help.

  6. Hi Eddie, I agree that most of the times a name and email are enough. The less information you require the more signups you get. That’s why usually I extend that tip by saying that most of the times a FIRST name and an email are enough. However, if you don’t plan to customize your emails, then there’s no point in asking for the first name. Why asking for something you don’t use? ;-) Ask only for the email address. You’ll get even better conversions.

    Adrian

P.S. By the way, sorry to asking but why don’t you use a “Subscribe to Comments” plugin? It’s better for the people who comment and if it’s better for them it’s also better for you. You’ll get more visits ;-)

  7. Nice one Eddie, i took my time to go through all the points and i’m totally convinced. but the issue now is; for those who are using blogger’s blog, how do someone get subscriber landing page? because i know it’s quite common on wordpress blogs.

  8. Great tips, as usual! Who do you suggest going through for ebooks?

  9. These are great tips! Always looking for ways to improve my blog.

  10. Hi Eddie – All good tips here. Like Adrienne, I’m not using a landing page like I should. I am using a plugin that puts a bar at the top of my blog though, which makes it easy to see and sign up! I’m also using the ‘ethical bribe’ of a free ebook for signing up. It takes a lot of time and hard work, but worth it in the end. Thanks for sharing and have a great day!

  11. Nice tips, more subscribers is always a good thing! I’ll try and employ some of these methods to increase my subscriber count. Thanks!

  12. Thanks for the great tips! I’m always on the hunt for new subscribers. I’ll try the ethical bribe this week.

  13. Great tips! Thanks for the suggestions. I’ll try the ethical bribe this week.

  14. I always learn a lot in your blog Eddie, thanks for sharing
