3 Negative Qualities You Should Avoid As A ProBlogger

Are you a pro blogger? Or aspiring to be one? This one is for you. We all know that ProBlogger are good at what they do and make a considerable amount of cash from blogging. But have you ever given it a moment of thought,  are they doing anything wrong? Yes, even professional bloggers do things that might not be good for business. As always I’ve been doing some research to both educate myself and help businesses improve their stand on the web. This time its around how business and blogger communities can do better by avoiding a few traits that comes with the territory.  While most of the qualities are not intentional, they should be best avoided.

Here are 3 Negative Qualities You Should Avoid As A ProBlogger

Quality #1 – Ask Engaging Questions And Care Less To Respond

I’ve sampled over 250 blogs and noticed that almost 90% of these blogs had a good call to action question at the bottom of the post. This brought in a ton of comments that were both engaging and questions. The sad part about this was that almost 50% of the 90% blogs with good call to action did not care about what the readers had to say. Most of the blogs had comments with questions regarding the post, personal questions for improvement and so on. I could not find a single comment from the ProBlogger addressing the readers questions or comments.

As readers do you feel left off, or not cared for. You the reader put a lot of trust into the ProBlogger sharing information. Is it worth it when a ProBlogger cares less to respond to your questions or comments?

Quality #2 - Talk About 10 Topics As Though Your An ProBlogger At Everything

We all know that every ProBlogger or business that blogs is looking at making money from the web. Be it selling their own products, affiliates, or even ad space – as long as they can make some good cash they are happy. One of the most annoying fact about certain ProBlogger is that they talk about everything under the sun as though they are master’s of all trades. It would be great if a ProBlogger can focus on one or two topics and showcase their expert opinion. This not only will help you build trust with your readers but also authority and focus towards a goal.

Are you someone who talks about all aspects of  blog for a living, or at the least more than 5 or 6 topics? If so, what is your take on this, Do you think you are smart enough to share expert opinion and knowledge about all subjects or your someone who is simply trying to write something to make some good money.

Quality #3 - Don’t Write A Blog Post For The Sake Of Writing One

Some ProBlogger believe that its mandatory to report out on all news events, and write several times a day. Some even believe that is important to write at least one post a day. Google loves blogs for one reason, they are an excellent platform to share knowledge with others and for free. When you blog about something, try and offer the best information in the best possible way you can.

Now that I’ve shared my views based on a little research of ProBlogger, I would like to hear your thoughts on this.

  1. You always make excellent points. Now I am wondering myself as a blogger. I have a goal:to be a part of the solution against child abuse by by providing helpful information to all members of the extended families. I say out right that I am not an expert, but I do have experince from my work history. I pass on referal links. I cover a lot of ground taht is always something I have had experience with. and that is defintly more than 5 or 6 subjects but iall revolves around issues that affects the family.
so, am I to broad, with out havng read my work?

    • Malika, based on your inputs, your a person who is actually talking about personal experiences and things that have actually happened in your life. When you are talking about real life experiences or events the number of topics don’t really matter. Does that help. I believe that real life experiences in blogs are a completely different thing vs. blogging for business.

  2. Thanks. Since I was professional I think the busines part is blurry. I am marketing my expertise. This does help. Thank you. I feel better.

  3. 1. Engaging with commenters: I agree, when there are questions. I do, however, attempt to restrain myself from commenting after everyone. Disqus has a feature called promoted comments, which displays most recent comments from various articles throughout the blog. It’s nice when it features comments by other persons.
    2. Too many topics: Wisdom is the curse of aging.
    3. Too many (daily) posts: Irritant. I tune them out. My goal is two or three per week.
